Hadrien JAQUET

Director of ENSV-FVI

Message from the Management

« Let us remember that the history of ENSV-FVI began in 1973 as the training school for Veterinary Public Health Inspectors (VPHI). I am therefore fully aware of the legacy entrusted to me and of the responsibility that lies upon me. »

In recent years, building on its solid reputation and a broad network of high-level national and international experts, ENSV-FVI has significantly expanded its sphere of influence and developed its training offer.

In agreement with the school’s board members, I have wished to lead ENSV-FVI into a phase of stabilization and consolidation, during which resources and energy will be primarily directed toward carrying out the essential missions that form the very purpose of ENSV-FVI. This core mission is everything related to the training of executives, both French and international, in veterinary public health, with the overarching goal that I summarize as follows:

Training Highly Qualified Executives

Addressing the major challenges of this century (emergence of infectious diseases, climate change, food security, etc.) will inevitably rely on mobilizing highly qualified executives in the fields covered by the One Health approach: food safety, management of zoonotic diseases, animal welfare, environmental health, and more. The process of acquiring, maintaining, and renewing their skills is thus a determining factor in the effectiveness of public policies in veterinary public health and, more broadly, in One Health domains, at both international and national levels.

This is the mission entrusted to ENSV-FVI by the World Organisation for Animal Health, as a collaborating center, as well as by several dozen third countries, whose official veterinarians we train or whose capacity we help strengthen.

It is also a mission entrusted by the French Government. Historically, by the Ministry of Agriculture for the initial training of Veterinary Public Health Inspectors, the continuing education of ministry officials, and the training of accredited sanitary veterinarians. More recently, by the Ministries of Health and Environment for the training of public and private decision-makers on One Health issues.

A School in Motion

This trust, built brick by brick by the teams that preceded me, I intend to preserve and enrich. Since ENSV-FVI is a tool serving our partners, sponsors, and beneficiaries, our work only makes sense if we honor this trust with an ever-renewed commitment to the quality of the content and training we provide.

Driven by the initiatives of my predecessors, ENSV-FVI has been in constant motion since its creation. I will therefore strive to continue this dynamic, in order to better prepare executives in veterinary public health to face today’s and tomorrow’s challenges. Three priorities will be pursued at both national and international levels:
