Residential Courses are in-person training programs similar to study visits (classroom lectures, case studies, field visits, and study trips to Paris, Brussels, or Geneva). Based directly on WOAH standards and recommendations, Residential Courses are intended both for official veterinarians and for managers from the private sector (animal production, pharmaceutical industry, and agri-food industry). Teaching is provided by various experts mobilized by ENSV-FVI: representatives of international organizations (European Commission, WOAH, FAO, WHO, WTO), officials from central and regional veterinary services, representatives of risk assessment agencies, and stakeholders from relevant professional sectors.
Often structured around a “One Health” approach, Residential Courses provide participants with extensive knowledge both general (global governance in veterinary public health, regulations, directives, international standards) and technical, relating to global challenges or current issues (management of health crises, combating antimicrobial resistance, health surveillance, and prevention of epizootics). These courses also contribute to the development of more cross-cutting skills such as leadership for veterinary public health executives or the evaluation of the quality of veterinary services.
The aim of these courses is to enable participants to gather and share their experience by presenting and using different concepts, while questioning their own professional practices in relation to WOAH standards and those of the Codex Alimentarius.
